Airline companies have played an outstanding role in the development of world travel, tourism and aviation. The successful commercial flight operations of airlines have added a new dimension to the travel and aviation industry. The world is at our fingertips. Where the number of international tourists in 1950 was only 25 million, today it exceeds 1.2 billion due to safe and secure flight operations by commercial airlines.

The number of people who are hungry for travel is increasing day by day. Air travel has become popular as the easiest means of communication from one country to another. Travelers are traveling around the world by air. Day by day the potential of commercial airlines operation is increasing. At the same time, the demand for skilled manpower is increasing. Airline companies are operating flights to various destinations in coordination with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a business organization consisting of 320 airlines from 120 countries.

According to International Civil Association Organization (ICAO) information, on an average, about one million flights are operated every day to different destinations in the world. In terms of airline transportation on the world map, Bangladesh is ahead as an attractive destination compared to many countries. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, more than 44 airlines are operating passenger and cargo transport services from Bangladesh. Also, more than 10 airline companies have expressed interest to operate the flight. Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines, Emirates, Turkish airlines, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airways, Saudi Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Air India, Indigo Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Gulf Air, Egypt Air, Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Novo Air and many more reputed airlines are operating flights from Bangladesh. Bangladesh operates domestic and foreign flights from three international and five domestic airports, but a few more airports will be made suitable for flight operations in the next few years. By the end of last year, terminal number three of Shahjalal International Airport has been launched on a limited basis.

The Government of Bangladesh has undertaken various projects to create skilled manpower to accelerate the civil aviation sector. Various professional technical training programs have already been started for the implementation of this project. Providing training assistance in Tourism Management, Aviation Management, Reservation and Ticketing, SABRE GDS, Hospitality Management and many more skilled based courses.

Aviation industry will play a helpful role in reducing the number of unemployed in Bangladesh in the coming days. In addition to domestic airlines, hundreds of thousands of talented youths of Bangladesh will get the opportunity to work in foreign airlines, IATA, ICAO, GSA, PSA, airports, IATA Travel Agencies, OTA travel agencies. In continuation of creating skilled human resources in this sector, the Government of Bangladesh is conducting the Reservation and Ticketing (GDS) course through various educational institutions under the National Skill Development Authority and Bangladesh Technical Education Board so that after training the skilled students can get job opportunities in Airlines, IATA, ICAO, GSA, PSA, Airport, OTA travel agencies.
